Walk-off hit gone bad: Minor league team loses after player forgets to touch base

Walk-off hits are happy occasions as the home team rushes the field in jubilation. Every so often some asshole ruins it for everybody by forgetting to touch a base.

This is one of those cases.

During a Lansing Lugnuts game Monday night, Chris Hawkins delivered what should have been the game-winning hit. Instead, a teammate at first base completely lost his mind, left the base path and forgot to touch second. There were two outs so the play became a force situation. The Great Lakes Loons appealed to the umpire by touching the base and he was called out. The Lugnuts went on to lose the game in the 10th.

This is an all-time walk-off boner.
