Amber Heard Walks Away With Millions After Divorce Settlement With Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp and his lawyers may have been compelled to come to a settlement much sooner than they had wanted to after weeks of negative publicity. TMZ is reporting that Amber Heard and Depp have come to a divorce settlement of approximately $7 million, which included attorneys’ fees.

From TMZ:

Amber and Johnny filed legal docs Tuesday in which Amber withdrew her request for a restraining order. She had alleged Johnny brutalized her on May 21 but now the case is over. She dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning she can never re-file it.

Apparently, Depp’s lawyers offered $8 million originally, but Heard’s legal team declined.

A joint statement from Depp and Heard was released:

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”

The statement does not specify which charity or how much she will donate.

Things turned dark this weekend for the Hollywood actor after a video of a furious and seemingly intoxicated Depp was seen slamming kitchen doors, screaming at Heard and breaking a wine bottle was released. Heard maintains that she did not leak the video that she appeared to take with her own phone or laptop. The release of the video had peculiar timing, just hours before the couple’s deposition at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Then there was the story that stated that Depp cut his finger and wrote “Billy Bob” on the wall in blood because he believed Heard cheated on him with Billy Bob Thornton. An accusation that Thornton has denied.

Heard and Depp got married on February 3, 2015, and she filed for divorce on May 23, 2016.

Depp is said to have a net worth of $400 million, so it could have been much worse for the wealthy actor. Expect more Pirates of the Caribbean movies in Depp’s future.
