I fancy myself as a gentleman who comprehends science more than the general population, especially the vast amount of people on this planet that actually believe that Keeping Up With The Kardashians is quality entertainment. I base this opinion, not because I have earned a doctorate degree in astrophysics from Princeton University, but rather that I have watched four episodes of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Cosmos show.
I excitedly took a Pew Science Knowledge Quiz, and was eager to see how my science game compared to my fellow Americans.

The Pew Research Center did some analysis of the actual survey that was conducted last year involving 3,278 adults. And disappointingly, only 6 percent of Americans got a perfect score by answering all 12 basic science questions correctly.
On the bright side, Americans provided more correct than incorrect answers. So take that China! The study showed that people with college or graduate degrees got the most questions right, which makes a lot of sense.
Ladies, get your science up (Especially about magnifying glasses and light. Jeez didn’t you girls fry ants with a sun-powered magnifying glass death ray?), because men had a higher score on all 12 questions than females. Men scored an average of 8.6 out of 12 correct answers, compared with women who got 7.3 correct answers.
I know you are all anxiously awaiting to hear the results of my science quiz. While I did not get a perfect score like 94 percent of the country, I did manage to answer 11 out of 12 questions correct.
