Chick With Anxiety And Depression Pursues Career As A Dominatrix, Now Feels ‘Fulfilled And Invincible’

In an op-ed for the NYPost, Mistress Cherry wrote about her new life as a dominatrix in Manhattan after previously suffering from crippling anxiety and depression. She claims that her new life of bossing around men with a whip while wearing leather and vinyl has left her feeling ‘fulfilled and invincible’, and after reading through some of her crazy ass stories below I can certainly believe it.

Her trip down the rabbit hole from social recluse to successful NYC dominatrix is chronicled in a new book (Buy It Here On Amazon: $12), and it’s rather fascinating to see how someone can go from having crippling anxiety to working in a position of complete power.

This is her by the way, she’s @kittenwithawhip on Twitter:

It was in 2004 — soon after a particularly upsetting split with a boyfriend (who turned out to be married) — that she tackled her depression head-on. Instead of hiding in her apartment, she adopted the moniker Mistress Cherry and followed the lead of a friend who worked in a New York City dungeon.
“If you do it well [working as a dominatrix], it’s a tremendously compassionate, beautiful thing,” says Kinsman, who regularly put her willing clients on dog leashes and caused them pain by whipping them. “You make them feel understood.”
Slowly, her own self-esteem grew.
“Just like someone who starts going to the gym, I was able to free myself from my own oppressive thoughts,” she recalls.

I get that transitioning into a powerful role will spike your confidence, and that’s going to have an effect on ever aspect of your life. That’s clearly what happened here, but her job still sounds nuts.

Donning a leather outfit for work and spanking dudes with a whip, making them call you Mistress Cherry, that’s not exactly what we as a society have come to know as ‘conventional therapy’. But if it works then I say more power to her.

You can pick up her new book titled ‘Hi, Anxiety: Life With a Bad Case of Nerveson Amazon for only $12, and read all about her full transition into the world of being a dominatrix.
