Brad Pitt Really Is A Bad Ass, Shot His First Handgun At Age Eight

Brad Pitt has always been the exemplar man to every dude. The kind of guy you want to be. He’s a movie star who rolls perfect joints, has slept with both Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, and just seems like the chillest brah out there.

Add to the list of attributes we like about him, Brad Pitt loves his guns. He says he shot his first handgun at the age of eight. He was even younger when he started on other firearms. From The Independent:

“There’s a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors’ weapons,” said Pitt. “My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was in kindergarten.”

The actor – who was born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri – was first given an air gun, then received a shotgun when he was six. By the time he was eight, he had fired a handgun.

That, to me, seems like well beyond a right of passage. It seems like a … well, it seems quintessentially American. And Brad Pitt is an American. You forget that given all the time he spends in Europe.

Even with all the security Pitt could buy (and probably has), he still said he likes to keep a gun in the home for protection.

The Radio Times reports that Pitt doesn’t feel that he and his family are safe unless there is a gun in the house.

Cool man. You gotta do you.
