Stupid Government Won’t Let Brewery Deliver Beer by Drone to Ice Fishers

But now the big dumb government won't let them have any fun. According to Lakemaid Beer President Jack Supple, the FAA has called Lakemaid twice this week to tell the company that its idea violates several laws. Supple says he knew that it was illegal to use a drone for commercial purposes, but he thought he could get around the law by delivering the beer for free. Hahaha, said the FAA. Fuck you.

“I'm on the FAA blacklist for now,” Supple told the New York Daily News. “They're not too happy with me.”

Supple does make a good point. In an email to NPR, he said that while his drone system was inspired by Amazon's 60 Minutes profile, his PR stunt is actually much safer: flying a drone over a vast iced-over lake should be preferable to flying one over cities and suburbs, where Amazon plans to one day deliver packages.

This turned out not to be the case, and now it appears the dream of machine-delivered brews will remain a distant one. Which is a shame. When Amazon's Skynet kills us all, can we at least be drunk first?
