A 35-year-old father of two covered himself in butter to make it harder for cops to arrest him.
Cops were called to Michael Rooney’s house after he “had broken most of the furniture in the home he shared with his partner.”
He had barricaded himself into the house by jamming two chairs against the door. He stripped stripped to his waist, and was wearing only jeans, to better apply the butter.When the cops finally got into the home, Rooney waved a 14-inch knife and yelled “Come in ye bastards… “
Rooney got the idea from the 2008 film Bronson. Sadly, it didn’t work for the dad. He was still arrested after the cops unloaded two rounds of pepper spray on him. The arresting officers noted it was hard to hold him down to cuff him.
He plead guilty, wrote a letter of apology, and promised to give up drinking since the incident. The court felt he’s done much to “rehabilitate himself” and gave him a suspended sentence.
