Carolina Panthers Release Starting Cornerback Bené Benwikere After Julio Jones Torched Him For 300 Yards

Carolina Panthers cornerback Bené Benwikere was supposed to replace Josh Norman in the secondary this year but after 4 weeks he’s out.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Panthers have cut ties with the corner after the team’s secondary got torched for 300 yards.

In Sunday’s game, Jones caught 12 passes for 300 yards. Benwikere gave up 228 of those yards on eight of Jones’ receptions, according to Pro Football Focus.

Guess the Panthers probably regret not resigning Josh Norman right about now.
