Bros, Sign This Petition To Help Get Oregon Shooting Hero Chris Mintz The Presidential Medal Of Freedom

Mintz is the courageos and selfless man who defied and went after the Oregon shooter at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon on Friday. Instead of running away, his brave actions caused him to be shot seven times, but also undoubtedly saved other victims from the savage and cowardly attack. Because of his lionhearted valor a petition was setup to get the White House to address and hopefully carry through with awarding Mintz with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. Definitely appears that Oregon shooting hero Chris Mintz displayed the values and characteristics that would easily justify him to win such a prestigious award.

The petition states the following:

Mr. Mintz positively displayed the values of loyalty, duty, respect, honor, integrity, personal courage, and self-sacrifice to attempt to save as many of his fellow citizens as possible. I believe that awarding Mr. Mintz the Presidential Medal of Freedom will hold him up as a strong example to the rest of America that one person can make a difference.

In order for the White House to address this matter the petition needs to have 100,000 signatures. At the time of print, the petition only had 2,975 signatures and requires 97,025 more signatures for it to be acknowledged. The last people who won the award in 2013 included former President Bill Clinton, former Washington Post executive editor Ben Bradlee and Baseball Hall of Famer Ernie Banks.

If you believe that the actions by Mintz warrant him to be awarded the medal, you can sign the petition here.

Here’s an update on the GoFundMe account that was setup to pay the medical costs and other fees that Chris will encounter as he makes his recovery from two broken legs and rehabilitation to learn how to walk again. Over 22,000 generous individuals have donated to the crowdfunding effort for an amazing $732,000! That is an absolutely astounding figure and shows the tremendous humanity in people.

Meanwhile, Chris seems like a real standup and humble individual. He has linked to GoFundMe accounts that will help pay for the funerals of some of the victims from the tragic shooting.

We must help everyone involved in this tragedy .
