Cool Map Shows What State Capital You Live Closest To

This Voronoi Map of the United States, which the Washington Post published today, shows how state borders would be drawn if proximity to the state’s capital was the only concern.

Which, in olden times, when people needed to regularly traverse via buggy to City Hall to refute a summons, this would have made sense (ignoring factors like impassible rivers and mountains). Now, not so much, though it’s still cool to look at.

If this were the case, some common assumptions of America are flipped. New York City would be property of New Jersey. Las Vegas part of Arizona. And Chicago would be in Wisconsin.
