There’s probably nothing in the official police handbook of Turangi to help guide cops through the proper disposal of large amounts of marijuana but burning it probably wasn’t the best idea. It probably shouldn’t even be in the top 50 of disposal ideas.
Shoppers at the New World supermarket in Turangi encountered an unexpected haze of marijuana-scented smoke, after police started burning an illegal haul of the drug that they had recently acquired.
We can only speculate as to whether the smoke gave shoppers a sudden urge to eat all the food that they had purchased – but the whole thing was captured by Adam Green, who posted a video on Facebook.
Here’s video of the local cops getting the entire town lit.

Taupo Area Commander Warwick Morehu commented on the mistake, saying “Unfortunately… given the conditions [and] the wind I understand the smoke did drift further than anticipated.”
And when he said it, like everyone STARTED ROLLING LAUGHING. They weren’t sure why, though.
