Humans process the world primarily through our eyes. It’s how we remember people, and teach ourselves, and basically navigate the world.
Once you process the world in one way, it’s hard to imagine doing so in any other fashion. It’d be silly to try and close your eyes and walk to the bathroom solely by hearing it. So it’s hard to understand how a dog can use its nose to navigate the world in exactly the same way as we do our eyes.
This short Ted Talk, though, does a great, great job of showing you how a dog “sees” through smell. It’s pretty good.
And you’ll learn something by using your eyes (we are way too dependent upon them).
