Donald Trump’s Kids Aren’t Voting For Him In New York

New Yorkers will head to the polls on April 19 to vote in their primary election where they vote for their favorite presidential candidates. However, Donald Trump will not get the votes from some of his children. Not because they disagree with his politics, but rather a misunderstanding on their part.

Ivanka and Eric Trump, who have been actively campaigning with their father, failed to register as Republicans by the state’s deadline last October. So that means that they will be unable to vote for their dear ole dad.

That’s good news for Donald Jr., who did register in time, and is now likely to get a handsome increase in his father’s will thanks to his siblings’ error.

On Monday, the Donald gave a telephone interview to Fox & Friends where he commented on the unfortunate misstep by his children.

“They had a longtime register and they were, you know, unaware of the rules, and they didn’t, they didn’t register in time,” Trump said. “So they feel very, very guilty.”

He continued, “They feel very guilty. But it’s fine. I understand that. I think they have to register a year in advance and they didn’t. So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won’t be voting.”

“Are you cutting off their allowance?” co-host Steve Doocy asked jokingly. “Yes. No more allowance,” Trump responded.

Records from the New York State Board of Elections show that neither Ivanka Trump nor Eric Trump is enrolled in a political party.

New York has a “closed primary,” which means polls are direct primary limited to registered party members, who must declare their party affiliation in order to vote. Closed primaries encourage party unity and prevent members of other parties from crossing over to influence the nomination of an opposing party’s candidate. A great number of states use a closed primary, but very few have such an early registration requirement like New York. First-time voters had until March 25 to select a political party affiliation to be eligible for the primary.

You provide silver spoons and Maybachs to your kids and this is how they repay you. So ungrateful.
