Twitter User Pranks Anchor When Interviewed About Edward Snowden, Talks About Edward Scissorhands

These days, anything involving celebrities and Twitter is news. We’re guilty of covering some of the things of lesser import that happen on the social networking site, but such is life in the content business.

So when Edward Snowden joined Twitter yesterday, that was a story.

HLN covered it, but didn’t realize what they were getting when they asked Twitter user Jon Hendren to come on their show. He goes by the handle @fart and is a weird Twitter power user. Somehow HLN’s people missed this.

Naturally, he hijacked the interview. Gloriously.

The video is a bit hard to hear, but here’s what fart had to say.

“But I think to cast him out, to make him invalid in society, simply because he has scissors for hands, i mean that’s really strange, because people didn’t get scared until he started sculpting shrubs into dinosaur shapes.

[We treated him] like someone who should be quarantined and put away. Just because he was created on top of a mountain by Vincent Price, incomplete with scissors for hand and no heart. Edward Scissorhands is a complete hero to me.”

“I mean, where else is he going to go? We cast him out. We got scared when he poked a hole in a waterbed with his scissor fingers, and that was just unreasonable of us.”

The anchor doesn’t even notice at first, which is what makes this all the more wonderful.

Be good to all Eds.
