I don’t understand how Captchas work. Or how to pronounce the word “Captcha” for that matter. I used to think it was “Cap-Cha” or “Cap-Shaw” or how Rosie Perez would say “capture,” but after watching this video and listening to how the guy says it, I’m not so sure about that. Maybe the narrator is the asshole here and my pronunciation is right? He did make an entire video about how much he hates the fucking things, so I could be on to something.
What I don’t understand about Captchas, though, is how intelligent are bots that the Captchas need to be impossible for humans to read? Is that a 6 or a G? Better yet, is that a ZERO or the letter “O”? And why does this entire string of random letters need to be stretched out and look like someone poured coffee on them? Is this how we are beating the bots? Because we’re also beating humans this way. Namely, me. And also the jackass who made this video.
