“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” was one of Muhammad Ali’s most memorable quotes. Nothing personifies his “float like a butterfly” boxing mantra more than this exquisite performance that he put on in his televised exhibition with Michael Dokes in 1976.
This incredible footage shows Muhammad Ali ducking and weaving to avoid Dokes’ onslaught of punches. When all’s said and done, the great Ali dodges 21 punches in just 10 seconds. Ali celebrates his unbelievable abilities by doing a little shimmy dance right in front of Dokes as he’s fighting him.
Ali died on Friday night in Phoenix, Arizona after being admitted to hospital with respiratory problems. Ali battled Parkinson’s disease for 35 years before peacefully bowing out.
A flood of tributes from fans and celebrities alike to honor the boxing legend.
