Ruben Carol lost his leg in 2005 during a hit-and-run accident that knocked him under a semi-truck which then dragged him 30 feet. Ruben’s gone viral over the past 24 hours after sharing photographs of his homemade prosthetic leg.
The prosthetic looks similar to how you’d imagine a cheesy horror film building a prosthetic for a freshly chopped off human leg. I personally think it looks like a freshly cut ham hock. I’ll let you bros check out the hilarious prosthetic below, but first I really think you should read what Ruben told the website UNILAD.
They caught up with the Californian whose now ex-wife began cheating on him after he was in a coma for 5 weeks and rehabilitation for 6 months following his accident. She said some nasty as fuck things to him, things I probably wouldn’t say to my mortal enemies, but Ruben’s comments on having a sense of humor through all of this are something we should all read:
After spending five weeks in a coma and six months in hospital, Ruben’s (then) wife began cheating on him and left him saying ‘You will never find anyone to love you the way you are now’.
He endured a tough journey of coming to terms with his amputated leg, and a bout of depression before he found his new wife who has helped him ‘become a better version of the man I used to be’.

He added:
“Humour is important in everyone’s life.
Look, when something like this happens to you, you have two choices, you can cry about it and feel sorry for yourself for the rest of your life (which is not going to bring your limb back) or you can take it as a learning experience for how valuable life is. Humour is a big part of that.
When amputees get in a group, believe me, we can take the piss out of each other. We say things that would make others cringe. Because we can. If someone who wasn’t an amputee said some of these things, they could be offensive.” (via Unilad)
