As Americans, we need to be honest with ourselves: The 2016 Presidential election has been a slap-in-the-face to our country. Both candidates make the 300+ million people who call the United States home look like low-IQ, slack-jawed morons. For the past year we’ve asked ourselves over and over again “Is this the best that we can do?” and, sadly, this election cycle the answer to this question is…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
From an outsider’s perspective, no one nails that sentiment more than former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May. At the 4:21 mark in the interview above, they express what A LOT of the world is feeling, especially here in America: “Is this really the best we can do?”
“From the outside looking in, this is the shining beacon of democracy in the free world. We look at America and go ‘give us guidance, America.’ And they have a man with nylon hair and a criminal.”
It’s quite sad.
