Justin Bieber Just Gave Us The First Reason Ever To Not Hate Him And It Involves Marijuana

Justin Bieber, as we are all very well aware, pretty much sucks at being a human being most of the time. He’s rude, he’s a baby, he’s ungrateful, and even Selena Gomez has had enough of his shit.

However, every now and then, even a blind squirrel finds a nut as they say. And Justin Bieber just found his nut (that came out wrong) with his stance regarding medical marijuana.

On Sunday, Bieber tweeted his disgust with pharmaceutical companies attempts to block medical marijuana legislation.

“This is important. I’m going to be talking more about this. We all need to pay attention,” tweeted Bieber.

Amazingly, Bieber is actually right on this one.

His tweet links to a video by ATTN: that discusses how pharmaceutical companies don’t want medical marijuana to be legal because it would cut into their sales of prescription drugs.

According to Huffington Post, pharmaceutical companies have “spent more than $880 million fighting legislation that would help to alleviate America’s opioid crisis over a decade.”

The opioid crisis is an epidemic of alarming proportions. In 2014 alone, opioid overdoses killed more than 28,000 people in the United States, and sales of prescription these drugs have nearly quadrupled in the U.S. since 1999.

Medical marijuana could alleviate the crisis, considering the growing body of evidence that suggests it is an effective and positive alternative to prescription painkillers.

So, like him or hate him, someone like Justin Bieber getting behind this cause is actually a very good thing. His tweet was RT’d over 28,000 times and he has over 88 million followers to whom he can spread this message.

Now if we can just get even more people with this reach, preferably more likable folks, we might actually get something accomplished here. That being said, good job, Bieber. Way not to be a douche.
