The worst thing about lightning storms is arguing with my kids over who gets to hid under the dining room table. They always assume I’ll choose them over myself.
Professor Ningyu Liu at the Geospace Physics Laboratory caught this beautiful lightning show from a recent storm. It’s recorded at 7000 frames per second and the playback speed is 700 frames per second.
This storm is even more terrifying because it goes so damn slow. It’s like doing a band-aid the hard way.
