Man Wins $1,000 On Scratch Off Ticket, Buys Another And Wins $10 Million

The cardinal rule of scratchers is that you always roll them back. Win a dollar on a dollar scratcher, and you have to buy another. It’s part feeling lucky, but more karma. You don’t take your dollar and run.

Rodney Meadows, of Modesto, California, knows those unwritten rules, and was rewarded for respecting them in a big, big way.

He bought a $30 scratch-off ticket (which is admittedly absurd) and won a cool grand. So he bought three more.

Next one was a $10 million winner.

BAM. Via KCRA:

Rodney Meadows was out running errands Nov. 23 when he decided to pick up some $30 California Lottery 30th anniversary scratchers tickets from the Fast Mart at 3955 Coffee Road in Modesto, according to lottery officials.

Meadows won $1,000 on the first ticket he bought, so he decided to “let it ride.”

That’s when Meadow scratched off his big winning ticket.

“First off, I could not believe it,” Meadows said. “I had to ask the clerk at the store, and he said, ‘You better check it again at the machine.'”

He said he’s not sure what yet he will do with his winnings. Whatever the fuck he wants, I presume.
