Everything You Need To Know About The Shooting At Mall In Washington Where 5 People Were Killed

A man carrying a rifle entered a Macy’s store at a mall near Seattle and shot dead five people. On Friday night, the gunman entered the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington and killed four women and one man, then fled.

On Saturday, there is a massive manhunt underway to apprehend the unidentified gunman. A helicopter, search teams and K-9 units scoured the area for a rifle-carrying man who escaped on foot. The FBI is assisting on the investigation.

The armed man was last seen walking toward Interstate 5 from Cascade Mall, according to Washington State Patrol trooper Sgt. Mark Francis, a spokesman for the Washington State Patrol.

His motive or relationship to the victims, if any, are unclear, Francis said.

Witnesses described the chaotic scene when the shooting started about 7 p.m. local time.

“Out of nowhere I just hear somebody yell and then after that, I turn around and just look at the Macy’s and I just hear shots,” Patino told CNN affiliate KOMO-TV in Seattle.

“It sounded like four balloons popping, the I heard seven or eight more, and I just stayed quiet in the dressing room because it just didn’t feel right. And it got very quiet. And then I heard a lady yelling for help, and a man came and got me and another lady, and we ran out of the store,” Tari Caswell said.

Police say the shootings happened in the makeup department of a Macy’s store at the mall an hour north of Seattle.

“We are still actively looking for the shooter,” Washington State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Francis said at a news conference. “Stay indoors, stay secure.”

“We urge residents to heed all safety and detour warnings. Stay close to your friends and loved ones as we await more information and, hopefully, news of the suspect’s capture,” Gov. Jay Inslee said in a statement.

If you have any information on the shooting please contact the authorities.
