We’re almost to the end of LGBT Pride Month, so it makes sense that #HeterosexualPrideDay began trending earlier today. All you lesbians and gays had your fun in the sun, now it’s us heterosexuals turn to hog all the attention for the next 11 months because we don’t get enough preferential treatment in society already.
As you can already tell, I’m of the opinion that this is a stupid hashtag to have trending – no one goes up to a straight person and makes fun of them for being straight, whereas the LGBT crowd, despite making headway in recent years, still faces opposition to equality from both society and our government. Like, seriously guys? We can’t even go a month without having to scream “HEY, PAY ATTENTION TO ME TOO, I’M A SPECIAL SUNFLOWER TELL ME HOW PRETTY AND IMPORTANT I AM PLEASE” when the spotlight of attention gets shined at someone else?
Unsurprisingly, Twitter was both not amused…

Happy #HeterosexualPrideDay to those brave souls who bravely stand up and make their voices heard so that I know who I need to mute on here.

…and fully on-board. How else would the hashtag have gotten trending?

I'm amazed with the hate on this tag. Anything that contains pride is a good thing. Everyone, be proud of yourself! #HeterosexualPrideDay

Happy #HeterosexualPrideDay to all the women avoiding giving a BJ again tonight, and to the men alone on the couch with a bottle of lotion.
