Science Says That People Who Watch A Lot Of THIS Kind Of Television Are Vain, Narcissistic Turds

Okay, I’ll admit that’s not what science said verbatim – science said that watching a certain type of television show means you’re narcissistic, which basically equates to you being a vain little asshole. Basically.

According to research published in the journal Psychology of Popular Media Culture, scientists had 565 television watchers to fill out a questionnaire about narcissism, as well as inform them what type of television they typically watch. Their results were unsurprising, as most of the people I know who regularly tune into reality TV are self-absorbed fools:

People who watched TV a lot – and those who watch a lot of reality – scored far higher for narcissism.

People who liked news shows tended to score a bit lower.
‘Interestingly, preference for news was negatively related to narcissism,’ the researchers wrote.

‘One possible explanation for this finding is that individuals who pay attention to the news are also more civically engaged and less individualistic.’(via)

Now, as a reader of BroBible I’d hope that you don’t tune into bullshit like Real Housewives or Vanderpump Rules – but there’s probably at least a few of you who get stuck with it when it’s your girlfriend’s turn to pick what to watch at night. So when she inevitably picks some piece of shit show with scripted drama pretending to be “real” and a slew of “characters” who’ve all had their faces botoxed to Hell and back, make sure to show her this article and tell her to stop being an idiot. Then steal the remote and put on something worthwhile, like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.
