President Obama Destroyed CNN in Pretty Funny White House Correspondent’s Dinner Speech

Poor CNN.

It used to be important. When shit hit the fan—like a war or a president screwing around with an intern—it was where you turned. We even took Wolf Blitzer seriously.

Now, after a year that saw Piers Morgan sink to even lower lows and a two-months of “BREAKING NEWS” in searching for the missing Malaysian Airlines flight, CNN is a laughing stock. And last night, at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner (an annual roast that brings together the media, politicians, and Hollywood), President Obama saved some of his best material for Blitzer and company. “I’m a little jetlagged from my trip to Malaysia,” he said. “The lengths we have to go to to get CNN coverage these days.”

They didn’t look pleased.

Let’s not kid ourselves that Obama—who delivered his speech between two ferns, in an homage to his Zach Galifianakis interview—had much say in the joke-writing process. But his delivery has, and remains, really effing good for a non-comedian. Last night? No exception.
