Rachel Dolezal, The White Woman Who Pretended To Be Black, Resigns From NAACP

Rachel Dolezal, the white woman accused of pretending to be black, attracted national attention last week, thanks to her parents’ revelations that she’s been misleading people about her race. The president of the NAACP’s Spokane chapter predictably announced her resignation today.

“Please know I will never stop fighting for human rights and will do everything in my power to help and assist, whether it means stepping up or stepping down, because this is not about me. It’s about justice,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

Dolezal, a professor in the Africana Education Department at Eastern Washington University, has identified herself on official documents as partly black.

Yup. Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme.

It’s going to be interesting to see what space on the disgraced public figure game board Dolezal jumps to next. Celebrity boxing? A tell-all book? A vegan-friendly lifestyle blog? Fox News? BET? The landing places are virtually endless.
