San Francisco Taken Over by Make-a-Wish Recipient Dressed as ‘Bat Kid,’ and It’s Awesome

You might have followed this on-and-off today on Twitter. If not, here's what happened: A young leukemia patient, Miles, asked the Make-a-Wish foundation if he could be Batman. The organization went all-out: enlisting the help of 7,000 volunteers—including cops, city officials, the news media, and the Giants' mascot. Throughout the day, news helicopters have circled Miles, dressed as “Batkid,” as he's saved a damsel in distress, battled the Riddler and the Penguin, and, in just a bit, will head to City Hall to receive the key to the city.

And here the scene at City Hall:

It's been really amazing—a massive, city-wide effort to help out one little kid. No one is a cynic today. (If you want to donate to the Make-a-Wish foundation, which should be having a banner weekend, you can do so here.)
