Shea Serrano is the author of the uniquely successful “The Rap Year Book,” which is now a New York Times best-seller. But the quick, meteoric rise of the book’s popularity only seems to have made Serrano a more grateful person. Because today, the former Grantland writer has been spending his time going around to fast food joints and thrift stores and barber shops for the sole purpose of handing out $100 bills to people who could really use the money, especially around the holidays.

As Bro of the Day Serrano explains in the message above, while $100 might not be A LOT of money, it’s at least enough for some Christmas gifts or to pay a bill. But man, talk about being understated. Whenever I’ve handed a homeless person, or someone in need, anything more than a $1, their eyes light up in amazement. What this dude is doing today deserves some kind of lifetime achievement award.
The reaction from this woman at McDonald’s will give you ALL the chills.

I could watch that reaction all day. What a fucking hero.

Trust me, it’s OK to let it warm your heart.

Damn. Everyone should be inspired to do something thoughtful today. And Serrano’s not nearly done yet. He’s got at least a few more to go.
