Smoking Vs. Vaping – Science Examines The Dangers Of Both
It’s common knowledge these days that smoking is really, really bad for you. We have warned you about the dangers of e-cigarettes and vaporizers in the past. A study by the American Physiological Society who stated that nicotine-free solutions used in vaporizers include lung-harming substances, such as acrolein. Then a study by the New England Journal of Medicine, which found that e-cigs have alarmingly high levels of the carcinogen formaldehyde. The informed folks over at ASAPScience discuss the harmful effects of smoking vs. vaping.
While vapeheads are going to argue that the video is “propaganda,” ASAPScience did seem to stress that vaping is safer than smoking, but there definitely are some health risks associated with the nasty habit. “Current evidence does indicate that vaporizers administer nicotine with far less adverse effects due to decreased carcinogenic products and smoke inhalation, the narrator states. “But less harmful doesn’t mean safe.”
The video does bring up a valid point that the lack of regulation in the additives in e-cigarette solution, which including potentially dangerous ingredients such as diacetyl which scars the lungs. And I’m sure that China manufactures some of these solutions, and they don’t exactly have a sterling reputation with prioritizing producing a safe product above making a profit. So who knows what cheap, threatening chemicals they throw into the solution.
The video does point out that the vaping is relatively new so the health hazards over a long period of time is unknown right now.
