SNL Jumps On The Pile-On By Ripping The Tone-Deaf Pepsi Commercial

Last week, Pepsi pulled their commercial with Kendall Jenner after they got absolutely obliterated for how completely tone-deaf it is. Saturday Night Live jumped on the bashing of the failed ad with a sketch that examined the thought process of the creator of the shitty commercial.

SNL reimagined what the behind-the-scenes looked like from the view of the director, played by Beck Bennet. The director is gleaming with pride over his commercial that celebrates “The Resistance,” Black Lives Matter, and diversity, while also selling soda. Until he gets a call from his sister. Bennet runs his idea for the commercial to his sister.

“So there’s this huge protest in the streets reminiscent of Black Lives Matter. And so, everybody is marching, right? And they get to these police officers, and you think it’s gonna go bad because there’s kind of, like, a standoff. And then, Kendall Jenner walks in, and she walks up to one of the police officers, and she hands him a Pepsi. And then, that Pepsi brings everybody together. Isn’t that, like… the best ad ever?”

She obviously hates it.

He asks, “Sorta tone-deaf?”

He comes to the epiphany after his sister’s husband also shits on his very flawed commercial.

Then Kendall Jenner appears on set talking on the phone.

“Um, I stop the police from shooting black people by handing them a Pepsi,” she says with excitement.

And once again, anything the Kardashians touch is hot garbage.
