Study Finds Women Want To Have A One-Night Stand With ‘Bad Boys’ Who Have These Habits

Bad boys get the good girls. In a recent study from Ghent University in Belgium, researcher Eveline Vincke found that women desired a one-night stand with men who had certain bad habits.

The study, which was published in the online journal Evolutionary Psychology, Vincke interviewed 239 Dutch women between the ages of 17 and 30 about their views of smoking and drinking behaviors in men. The women were then shown 10 profiles of men. Photos of the men showed had them engaged in a variety of activities from playing sports to sunbathing to drinking and smoking. The women were asked how likely they were to have a one-night-stand or a long-term relationship with each of the men.

Vincke found that women were most likely to have a fling with men that had a profile that said they were occasional smokers and occasional or heavy drinkers. The bad boys who were risk-takers were more appealing for a “short-term mating strategy” AKA one-night stand.

The men who were portrayed as non-smokers and moderate-to-non-drinkers were found to be more attractive as long-term relationship partners.

Vincke also interviewed 171 men and discovered that their smoking and drinking habits matched up with the behavior of the women.

“When searching for a long-term partner, women prefer a man who has the willingness and capacity to protect and care for children.” Vincke told The Telegraph.
