World’s Largest Rube Goldberg Machine Is The Most Complicated Toy Ever Built, And I Love It

I love a good Rube Goldberg machine. If you’re not familiar with that name you’ve at least seen these in action before. The Rube Goldberg Machine is an overly-complicated, over-engineered machine that’s designed to complete a very simple task.

In the case above, this Rube Goldberg Machine has been certified by the Guinness World Records as being the largest in the world. It goes on for over 4 minutes. And in the end, all it does is turn on a Christmas tree.

The Rube Goldberg machine is an engineer’s dream. You get to build an endless machine, that goes on and on and on and on, and it’s designed to complete the most menial of tasks. All of the good tools were designed millennia ago. These days engineers have to over compensate and come up with the most complicated devices the mind can imagine, and this Rube Goldberg machine was very deserving of its Guinness World Record.
