We all have heard about it, many people have seen it with their own eyes in NBA arenas, it’s called ‘the LeBron James effect.’ Anytime Lebron comes to town, it’s like The Beatles have arrived, an arena in Orlando where the Magic don’t draw well, immediately turns into a packed house and a primetime game when LBJ steps on the floor.

I was able to sit down with Deron Williams on The Brilliantly Dumb Show and get his perspective on what it’s like to travel to a road game with LeBron. Williams was an NBA star who played for five teams throughout his career and a James led Cleveland Cavaliers team was his last stop in what ended up being an extremely successful 12 year NBA career.

“The atmosphere when LeBron is in an arena is different. When we played Memphis, a team who wasn’t that good at the time before Conley, Randolph and all those guys got there, there wasn’t a big buzz in the arena, it was just like another game, Williams said. “Whatever arena you go to (with LeBron James) no matter what that team is like, everybody is in the arena already from the moment you run on the court, everybody’s ready. It’s just a whole different atmosphere.”

That’s just a small piece to what was an extremely enjoyable and interesting interview. I was able to ask questions such as to who picks up the dinner bill when Williams was traveling with a star-studded Olympics team. How intimidating was Kobe’s competitive edge compared to other players?
