And The MLB 2015 Gillette Home Run Derby Contestants Are…

This year’s Gillette Home Run Derby is sure to turn Great American Ballpark into a metaphorical launching pad for baseballs with these guys at the helm. And Major League Baseball’s new format this year will only make it more intense.

Here’s what the match-ups look like in the new bracket format, per ESPN:

Chicago Cubs rookie Kris Bryant has been drawn into the same opening round as Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols in the All-Star Home Run Derby that will determine baseball’s homer king.

Baltimore’s Manny Machado will face Dodgers rookie Joc Pederson in the other matchup in that part of the bracket announced Wednesday.

Texas’ Prince Fielder faces Cincinnati’s Todd Frazier and Toronto’s Josh Donaldson takes on Chicago’s Anthony Rizzo in the other bracket.

And here’s a printable bracket, if you feel like having some competition with your bros for the LAZER SHOW on the evening of July 13th (next Monday).

Man, I love it. ALL of these guys have serious pop, and it’s such a great assortment of veterans and young guns – all obviously fan favorites alike. It’ll be great to Kris Bryant and Joc Pederson make their first All-Star game appearances as rookies in such a fashion, and at least 4 of the 8 sluggers competing this year are known to be complete goofballs, so it’s sure to be be a great evening all around.

My gut says Prince Fielder owns the crown, but it’d be great to see Donaldson or Machado have themselves a night too. And in backroom conversation, an anonymous source here at BroBible has also confided he’s worried the 2015 Gillette Home Run Derby will ruin Pujols’ swing.

We’ll see come this Monday night.
