The San Franicisco 49ers earned a big win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but lost their starting quarterback for the season. Jimmy Garoppolo fell to a serious injury and his season is officially done. Now, the fans and team are in shambles as they must move forward without him.

According to Ian Rapoport, Garoppolo suffered an ankle injury that requires surgery. The 49ers won’t have their starting quarterback on the field for the playoff push or postseason. With Trey Lance also recoving from a season-long injury, San Francisco is forced to rely on rookie Brock Purdy.

This is a less than ideal situation for the 49ers. Luckily for them, they have one of the most talented rosters in the league. The defense is stacked while the offense has enough weapons to make Brock Purdy’s life easy. Regardless, losing Jimmy Garoppolo is a big blow San Francisco would have liked to have avoided.

As you can imagine, the fans aren’t like the situation either. Especially considering it’s unknown what Brock Purdy brings to the table despite looking decent against the Dolphins on Sunday.

It’s really a shame. Jimmy Garoppolo can’t catch a break.

Someone turn injuries off, please.

Maybe Purdy can takeover and lead the 49ers to the promise land. However, we’ll have to wait and see if that happens or not. Losing Jimmy Garoppolo to injury this late in the season could cause trouble for a team with Super Bowl hopes.
