Noted businessman 50 Cent got the ball rolling today during an radio interview when he said he plans to back Mayweather with a hefty $1.6 million.
Mayweather is a -225 favorite in the May 2 bout, meaning Mr. Cent stands to rake in a $711,111 profit if he’s correct. Conversely, he could just not bet and probably make that much money by doing nothing.
Giving advance notice about a bet is a different strategy than the one routinely employed by Mayweather himself, who seems to have an uncanny ability to only share his winning slips after the fact.
