An angler in Panama just became the talk of the Big Game Fishing world after landing a massive 600-pound Black Marlin while kayak fishing out of Los Buzos resort. Angler Scott Mulcher of Florida was the adventurous angler who just made history after catching this massive fish from a kayak off the Los Santos peninsula in Panama.

Los Buzos is arguably the best kayak fishing resort on the planet. And Panama is home to some of the best Black Marlin fishing found anywhere in the world. With this recipe, it was only a matter of time until a Los Buzos guest hooked up with a huge fish and they captured footage of it.

Pictures of this massive Black Marlin caught from a kayak were first shared about a week ago. They came with the promise of a video showcasing this once-in-a-lifetime Black Marlin caught from a kayak. That video was uploaded to YouTube on Monday night by Adam Fisk and this is truly an epic fishing battle.

And here’s that video of Scott fighting this massive marlin off Panama:

Somehow some way it only took Scott 45 minutes to get that 600-pound Marlin to his kayak for the leader release. This was also Scott’s 7th trip to Los Buzos and by far his best. He caught the largest fish ever landed from a kayak AND according to the YouTube description, he caught a new fish world record Cubera Snapper as well.

This Is Likely The Biggest Marlin Ever Caught While Kayak Fishing

As far as I know, the biggest fish ever caught from someone kayak fishing was a 450-pound Black Marlin that was ALSO caught at Los Buzos back in 2018. That fish was landed by Adam Fisk (the same guy who uploaded the video above) who is a guide at Los Buzos.

His kayak fishing world record fish was a 450-pound Black Marlin that he hooked up with the fish in water that was only 120-feet deep and after a 4.5-hour battle he caught the fish in water that was 3,000-feet deep. Here’s footage of that battle:

How Does This Black Marlin Compare To Other Kayak Fishing Records?

This Black Marlin would come in at 150-pounds heavier than Adam’s 2018 fish and about 400-pounds heavier than a Blue Marlin caught in Hawaii by a guy who was kayak fishing in Kona.

One of the biggest differences between kayak fishing and fishing on a boat or standing on land is the fish can just pull you around if it’s strong enough.

This can be mitigated by a sea anchor or paddles for maneuvering but when you are fighting a billfish like a 600+ pound Black Marlin you’re basically a ragdoll out there getting dragged around.

Your best hope is to tire the Black Marlin or big fish out enough that you can reel it up to the kayak and release it or subdue it before the fish dies from exhaustion because the dead weight falling towards the ocean floor might break your tackle.
