Wherever Aaron Rodgers goes, conspiracy theories follow. That was certainly the case this week after a video from Monday night made waves online.

Rodgers was on the sideline for the Jets‘ game against the Chargers. As he was exiting the field during pregame, he was filmed picking up a box. Something fell out of the box.

It was a glass bottle, that looked like a beaker or decanter, with some kind of unknown liquid inside. To make matters worse, the top fell off of the bottle and the liquid spilled out onto the turf.

Because Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers, the internet immediately got to speculating.

WHO GAVE HIM THE BOTTLE? WHAT WAS IN THE BOTTLE?

Some of the funnier theories included: steroids, ayahuasca, clean urine. They suggested that the man was some sort of western medicine doctor. Others thought that it was some kind of booze, and because the top was loose enough to fall off, they hypothesized that Rodgers was drinking at the game. A bong was also in the mix.

Unfortunately, it is way less exciting. Rodgers cleared it up on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday.

He started by making it very clear that it was not a bong. And then he revealed the sideline guest.

I was dapping up by buddy Hugh [Coles]. Hugh plays George McFly in the new Broadway play Back to the Future.

From there, Rodgers finally explained what was in the bottle. It was tequila!

I was walking off the field with my Maestro Dobel Tequila that John Sutcliffe gives me every time he sees me on Monday Night Football […]

Shoutout to bongs everywhere, but that was not one of them.

Sutcliffe is a Spanish-language reporter for ESPN. He is a legend in the business.

Unfortunately, that was the end of the conspiracies. The mystery has been solved.

Rodgers was actually disappointed by the theories and found them to be pretty weak.

It could’ve been something more like Dolphin semen or Giants tears.

When asked to confirm that the tequila was a cover-up, Rodgers did not answer. The McAfee Show crew chose to keep the conspiracy door open, even though it is fully closed.

Rodgers got a bottle of tequila as a gift from Sutcliffe and spilled it after dapping up his friend, an actor on Broadway. Boring!
