Aaron Rodgers is low-key one of the smartest, cleverest and even funniest players in the NFL, so this take he dropped on his Instagram account about kneeling during the national anthem fits him perfectly.

As you may or may not recall, Rodgers and several of his teammates locked arms on Sunday in a show of solidarity during the playing of the national anthem. Naturally, there were people who berated him for participating in this peaceful protest.

On Wednesday, he responded to them with one of the best takes on the anthem protests we’ve seen yet…

Rodgers captioned the photo, “I can’t imagine what kind of social media attacks these cameramen must be enduring after taking a knee during the anthem and wearing a hat. #unity #equalityforall #love #cometogether #invitationtojoin.”

Also on Sunday prior to their game against the Bengals, Rodgers posted a photo to Instagram showing him and some of his teammates kneeling, which was then co-signed by none other than Tom Brady

And these aren’t the only messages Rodgers has been sending out on social media, many of them subtle because that’s pretty much his style.

On September 24th, Rodgers did his usual “ticket hunt” where he hides Packers tickets around town only this time he hid them on a “street named after the man who wrote the Bill Of Rights.”

Rodgers has also retweeted his teammate Jordy Nelson’s statement on the protests…

As well as Pat Tillman’s widow’s statement

And now, with the Packers set to play the Bears on Thursday night, Rodgers even issued a statement himself asking fans to link arms at Lambeau Field…

Indeed.
