It wasn’t long ago when Aaron Rodgers announced he wants to play for the New York Jets. However, a trade has yet to come to fruition.

Rumors are the Green Bay Packers want a first-round pick plus something else. Even though New York is the only team in the running, they don’t seem open to that deal.

Well, we finally have a better understanding of when a trade might actually happen. During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Ian Rapoport claims trade talks could last all the way up to the NFL Draft.

It makes sense, considering the Packers are going to want to acquire their draft compensation beforehand. Even so, this doesn’t seem ideal for either New York or Green Bay.

After many people complained about Aaron Rodgers dragging out his decision, it seems the two teams involved are now the ones dragging this whole thing out.

The Jets clearly don’t agree with what the Packers are asking for. However, it’s not like there is a bidding war right now either. Especially since Aaron Rodgers named New York as his favored destination.

There is always the possibility the two teams can’t reach an agreement and Rodgers just remains in Green Bay. That would likely be detrimental to the Jets, as they’re clearly going all out to acquire a veteran quarterback.

Keep a close eye on this situation, but as Rapoport suggests, don’t be shocked if trade talks continue through late April.
