Despite Aaron Rodgers already having a vice grip on the New York Jets organization, the 40-year-old quarterback and conspiracy theorist wants more weight within the franchise.

Speaking to reporters on Monday for his year-end press conference — not to be confused with his weekly appearances on The Pat McAfee Show — Rodgers said that he’d like to be involved in personnel decisions and recruiting during the offseason.

“As much or as little as they want,” Rodgers told reporters on Monday. “If [G.M. Joe Douglas] wants my help in recruiting, I’m available.

“I don’t necessarily think it has to be anybody associated with this system. It’s about character. You know, I think we need some characters on the offensive line. Some of the best lines we’ve ever had, have had some serious characters.”

The Jets might be hesitant to sign more of Rodgers’ buddies during the offseason, as the handful of Rodgers cronies that they acquired last year largely failed to make an impact.

The signing of wide receiver Allen Lazard was a particular failure, as they signed him to a four-year, $44 million contract only for him to reel in 23 catches for 311 yards and one touchdown.

Other signings connected to Rodgers were veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb (five catches for 39 yards and 1 touchdown), backup quarterback Tim Boyle (who was cut midseason), and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who led the Jets’ to a bottom-five-ranked offense in terms of both points and yards.

There’s no guarantee next season will be any better for the Jets as Rodgers will be another year older after tearing his Achilles during the first game of the 2023 season. Despite all of his claims about his rehab, whether or not he can hold up for a whole season at his age, let alone a whole game, has yet to be proven in New York.
