A long season may be brewing for Pittsburgh Steelers fans
We may just be two weeks into the 2026 NFL calendar, but Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is already in midseason form. After the Steelers’ loss to the Patriots in Week 2, Rodgers was immediately back to his old trick of blaming others.
The Pittsburgh Steelers got dominated on the road by the New England Patriots on Sunday, losing the game by a score of 20-3 to drop to 1-1 on the season. The Steelers’ Week 1 win came at home against the listless Atlanta Falcons, who look among the worst teams in the NFL to start the season.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has taken just two weeks to begin blaming others for the offense’s problems
The Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers-led offense looked particularly putrid against the defending AFC champions, as they produced just 235 total yards of offense while turning the ball over twice and allowing four sacks.
That, according to Rodgers, is not his fault, but that of the coaches and the play-calling, as he explained in his postgame press conference.
“In a game like today where there wasn’t a lot of flow to it, we need to be better, and it starts with me,” Rodgers said. “Making sure that Mike [McCarthy] knows what’s working and what’s not working. The coaches know, so that we can call stuff that gives us a better chance.”

Needless to say, virtually no one in the sports world was surprised by Rodgers’ comments about his coaching staff, as shirking responsibility and blaming others has become a part of his M.O. in recent years.

Former Jets reporters certainly seemed to be glad of Rodgers’ shtick, as SNY’s Connor Hughes responded to the video by tweeting “Lmaoo,” while The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt simply stated that there’s “No one like him.”
NFL reporter John Frascella had a particularly insightful perspective of Rodgers’ recent behavior, suggesting its tied to him confronting his football mortality.
“I think Aaron Rodgers might be going through some sort of crisis… spilled all the beans on that podcast a couple weeks ago… just blaming everyone else for everything, now… this is probably – deep down – about the reality of confronting the end of his LONG pro football career. It’s a weird thing to face.”
“The main thing wrong with the playcalling is they’re the most pass heavy team in the NFL with a 42-year-old QB,” added Yahoo NFL writer Frank Schwab.
Rodgers has told us who he is, so we ought to believe him. Sorry, Pittsburgh Steelers fans, but you could be in for a long season.
