Green Bay Packers Offensive Tackle David Bakhtiari Called Aaron Rodgers Slow

Aaron Rodgers is elite in nearly skill a great NFL quarterback needs to have. But, at this stage in his career, the above-average speed he came into the league with is certainly not there anymore.

And, Green Bay Packers star offensive tackle David Bakhtiari would know that firsthand. After all, he protected Rodgers’ blindside for a decade.

And, it’s a job he’s done very well. The Colorado alum was an absolute steal when he went in the 4th round with the 109th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Just a few years later, he was among the league’s elite at the position, making NFL All-Pro teams five years in a row from 2016-2020. He’s battled injuries and an appendectomy the last two seasons, but when he’s on the field, he’s as good as anyone at the position.

Of course, he is no longer protecting Aaron Rodgers’ blindside. Rodgers and the Packers parted ways this offseason, and he’s now a member of the New York Jets. The new starter for the Packers is 2020 first-round-pick, Jordan Love.

Love is a great athlete, and Bakhtiari, who was always a close friend of Aaron Rodgers, made a funny quip about the difference between the two. Here is Pro Football Network with more.

Via ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler on Friday, left tackle David Bakhtiari — also a longtime friend of Rodgers — did his part to answer how much different the Packers’ offense will be without the 10-time Pro Bowler, specifically around the Packers employing more run-pass option looks with QB Jordan Love.

“Because Aaron is slow as s–t,” Bakhtiari joked to Fowler. “Now we actually have an athletic quarterback who can move around.”

I’m sure Aaron Rodgers will have something clever to say back.
