Despite the fact that Aaron Rodgers has yet to complete a single official regular season pass for the New York Jets, the four-time NFL MVP is already planning his long-term future with the team.

While appearing on the Look Into It podcast — which describes itself as being a place for conversations with “red-pilled martial arts stars, comedians, rock stars, and conspiracy theorists” — Rodgers said he hopes to play for the Jets for another two, three, or even four more years.

“How can I be my best with my diet today, with my fluid intake? Just everything down to a T to try and get better,” Rodgers says in a clip that was posted to Twitter, as the full episode is behind a paywall.

“And I got back on the practice field late in the season, and couldn’t get to a top speed sprinting, but really been in a good place rehab-wise and feeling really good. Again, I’m hopeful I can play 2 or 3 or 4 more years, but you need to have some good fortune there, too.”

That’s certainly a surprising amount of confidence from a 40-year-old whose Achilles snapped after just four plays back in September. Not only that, but Rodgers’ Jets play their home games at MetLife Stadium, which famously has the worst turf in the NFL as it frequently contributes to players getting injured.

Furthermore, if Rodgers and the Jets fail to make the playoffs this season, head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas will certainly be fired, and there’s certainly no guarantee that a new regime would want to stick with Rodgers, who will be 41-years-old before the 2024 season concludes.

If Rodgers is able to lead the Jets to the postseason, however, he’ll be bringing an end to the longest active playoff drought in American professional sports, as Gang Green hasn’t qualified for the postseason since 2010.
