On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Jalen Hurts to a massive extension that makes him the highest-paid player in the history of the National Football League.

The 24-year-old Hurts, who led the Eagles to the best record in the NFC and the Super Bowl in his second full season as the team’s starter, signed a five-year contract that could be worth up to $255 million.

Following the news of Hurts’ new deal, stars Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown — who certainly helped Hurts earn that money with his 88 catches for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, his first with the Eagles after they acquired him from the Tennessee Titans — took to Twitter to hilariously react to the news of Hurts putting pen to paper with the Eagles.

During his breakout 2022 season, Hurts completed 66% of his passes for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. He also ran the ball 165 times for an additional 7760 yards and 13 touchdowns.

So far during his three-year NFL career, Hurts has completed 62% of his passes for 7,906 yards, 44 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions He’s also carried the ball 367 times for 1,898 yards and 26 touchdowns.

As for Brown, the 25-year-old helped Hurts take his game to the next level by giving him a legitimate #1 receiving option.

Ever since he was drafted out of Ole Miss by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Brown has racked up 273 catches for 4,491 yards and 35 touchdowns. His best season so far came last year with Hurts and the Eagles, so it’s certainly no surprise to see that Brown is hyped about the franchise giving the keys to Hurts for the foreseeable future.

Heading into the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles are one of the top two betting favorites to win next season’s Super Bowl alongside the Kansas City Chiefs, who beat them in the big game last year.
