Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar proved his glove is an extraneous accessory last night when he made a magnificent barehanded play on a hard-hit groundball.

The only shortstop I’ve ever seen do something like that is the great Omar Vizquel. I’m not sure why that guy even bothered to carry a mitt out to his position.
