Alex Volkanovski Demands Rematch After Getting Knocked Out By Ilia Topuria, Dana White Reacts

Alex Volkanovski believes he should get another crack at Ilia Topuria.

On Saturday night at UFC 298, Volkanovski got knocked out by Topuria in the second round of their fight after winning the first round on all the judge’s scorecards.

After the fight, Volkanovski said he felt good about his performance but just got caught by Topuria. Volk told the media that he deserved an immediate rematch for everything he’s done for the UFC, especially fighting Islam Makhachev on short notic.

“Obviously I’ve been a champ for a long time and I want that rematch, that’s something that needs to happen, you know I’ve been a reigning champ for how long? I’ve been a bit of a company man, I’ve backed up on short notice, I’ve fought Max (Holloway) three times…I’ve done it big here for a long time so I think deserve it”

Topuria has mixed feelings about giving Volk a rematch but said he would do it if the UFC would bring a fight card to Spain.

‘At this point I’m going to give him the rematch because he’s such a good person but at the same it’s time to move on, it’s time to clean up the division a little bit it’s time for the new generation.’

‘If the UFC offers me to bring the UFC to Spain for a rematch with Volkanovski, I’m in.’

UFC CEO Dana White was asked about an immediate rematch for Volk and says he wasn’t sure about it.

“I don’t know yet, it just happened, I’m not even thinking about that right now.”
