Andrew McCutchen Receives Home Run Ball From A Kid He Visited In The Hospital And You May Need A Tissue For This One

Remember that story about Babe Ruth hitting a home run for a kid who was sick in the hospital? Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star outfielder Andrew McCutchen learned that the script can be flipped, as a kid named Matt Groeber just did the same thing to the former NL MVP.

Cutch, who visited Groeber this past summer in the hospital, published a note on his Facebook page that showed why he’s such a fan-favorite, with the kid actually sending him a home run ball from his little league game.

Per McCutchen’s Facebook post:

Matt – thank you for the HR ball… and the autograph! More importantly, I’m so glad you’re doing better and healing….

The note mentioned how Groeber hit three home runs in his game, donating the first to McCutchen as a thank you for his support and coming to the hospital. Glad the little bro is getting better—and I’m going to remember his name, too, three dingers in a game is quite the feat no matter what level.

If this doesn’t put a smile on your face, I don’t know what will.
