Angel Reese’s pregame warm-up routine has been going viral due to the clunky mechanics of her shooting form. The video has left sports fans wondering why she nor her coaches have done anything to correct it.
A video of Angel Reese — who was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream during the offseason — practicing perimeter shots during a June 4 shoot-around has gone viral on social media to the awkward shooting form of the WNBA All-Star power forward.

My gawd…. She’s literally doing it backwards
Does @WNBA not have coaches https://t.co/UDC3wf4BMY— Dan Dakich (@dandakich) June 5, 2026
“I will never understand this. She shoots like 40-45% from around the fucking rim. And they have her practicing 3s? Girl. Do some Mikan drills,” read one viral response.
“They keep making my sister work on threes like decent fadeaway and jumpshot package won’t put her in all WNBA convos,” a second said.
“I just have no idea how we are in year 6 of using the right leg as the lead leg, set point being at the hip, and it being a two motion shot,” a third added.
“What are we doing here? Crossing her arms, eyes on the ball in the air and not the rim, stomping out every shot. This is just bad shooting fundamentals. Has she not hired a shot coach in the last 3 years?”
The right leg motion is throwing me off
Where are the shooting coaches?

Angels mechanics reminds me of a person who’s just learning the game of basketball . She has no fluidity to her game .. everything just looks difficult. Her heart and effort is her best skill which can take you just as far sometimes though https://t.co/ff4Q2kqA6J

Reese was drafted out of Lousiana State University, where she won a national title in 2023, with the 7th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Despite being with the team for just two season, both of which saw her voted to the WNBA All-Star Game, the Sky traded her to the Dream in exchange for first-round picks in 2027 and 2028.
During her first two seasons in the WNBA, Reese averaged 14.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.7 assits and 1.5 steals per game. In her first nine games as a member of the Atlanta Dream, Reese is averaging 12.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1 steal per game.
