The Los Angeles Lakers are supposed to have a true superstar tandem between LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But, in Wednesday night’s loss to the Sacramento Kings, Anthony Davis forgot to show up, and that’s something that’s happening far too often for the Lakers so far this year.

In fact, had LeBron James not had a monster triple double, the Lakers would’ve got run off their own home court. Even still, it was a 125-110 Kings win.

The culprit? Anthony Davis. Simply put, he was terrible. The future Hall of Famer scored just nine points on 3-9 shooting. He did add 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. But, when you consider his night to his counterpart, Kings star big man Domantas Sabonis had 29 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists. Needless to say, he won that matchup.

It was Davis’s second time this year going under ten points in a game, and it’s the fourth time in five games the 30-year-old has failed to crack the 20-point mark. That’s simply not going to be good enough for a Lakers team that is built around LeBron and AD doing a lot of the heavy lifting on offense.

I’m sure it will come out on Thursday that he was dealing with some kind of nagging injury. That’s how it always seems to work with Anthony Davis whenever he has a bad game. Frankly, I’m over it. He’s got to start being more consistent. He’s got way too much talent and ability to not dominate every night.
